We are looking for a Technical Specialist to join our team.

You will be responsible for undertaking initial Site Integration, Testing & Commissioning, Final Integration, and Handover activities for a system planned for Deployment at a Client site.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing system and commissioning tests
  • Defining test plans and ensuring the consistency between test plans and means
  • Identifying and verifying the means required for testing are present
  • When required, ensuring the specification complements of test means
  • Ensuring tests are properly executed and managed
  • Performing some PICO testing and assisting in Testing and Commissioning activities as required
  • Ensuring completeness of tests as well as compilations of evidence against requirements, and ensures traceability of evidences
  • Supporting site testing during the integration and commissioning periods
  • Analyzing the technical facts, monitoring the technical facts lifecycle within the appropriate commissions
  • Undertaking problem solving and troubleshooting as required by commissioning activities
  • Producing validated acceptance files
  • Ensures all the right considerations for field work with respect to work authorizations are in place
  • Ensuring the correct health and safety matters for those environments are complied with
  • Coordinating Hitachi Rail, customer, supplier, subcontractor teams and their interventions on the system, allocated test slots and monitoring schedules
  • Supervises acceptance, integration and commissioning staff
  • Co-ordinates and contributes to the activities of technical specialists of Testing and Commissioning who are on site to perform integration testing, trouble shooting and commissioning testing
  • Supports training of testing, operations and maintenance staff with respect to the related control system
  • Reports progress and current status to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides feedback to the customer
  • Completes progress reports related to Test & Commissioning
  • Maintains site 'punch lists' to satisfy project requirements
  • Prepares test planning schedule in accordance to customer possession plan for both Greenfield and Brownfield environments
  • Able to optimize execution of commission tests in a Brownfield environment
  • Able to efficiently execute commissioning tests in a Greenfield environment
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5-7 years working experience in Test & Commissioning phase of a CBTC project
  • Exposure to CBTC commissioning in both Brownfield and Greenfield environments
  • Logical approach to problem solving
  • Persuasive powers & able to remain calm under crisis
  • Ability to motivate and deliver results
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of current and legacy desktop publishing software (e.g. MS Suite, Visio, DOORS, Adobe Acrobat, Requirement Management tools such as DOORS or equivalent, JIRA)
  • Proficient in use of SAP
  • Fluent in English (both written and verbal skills)
  • Technical knowledge and skills required, e.g. System Engineering, Safety, etc.
  • Previous experience in the operational development, use and application of site mobility tools for installation and test and commissioning activities is an asset

This position requires significant travelling to the project site ranging between 50 to 75% of the time. Depending on project assigned, some tailoring and flexibility of individual's schedule will be required to ensure collaboration with peers in Toronto and peers/customers across the world can occur successfully. As a result, working hours are 40 hrs/week with possible overtime required depending on the project deliverables.
