We are looking for a Configuration Management Analyst to join our growing team at Toronto.
As a Configuration Management Analyst, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing the Configuration Management function in assigned projects/products to ensure consistency in the application of Configuration Management principles and change control processes throughout the lifecycle of a project/product.
Key Accountabilities: General: - Participates in Configuration Management activities: CM activities planning, identification, control, status accounting, and verification and audits
- Provide Configuration Management and Change control process and tools related guidance and training to the bid/project/product teams as well as Engineering team
- Contribute to improvement initiatives of CM procedures and tools.
As Project/Product Configuration Analyst: - Implement Configuration Management system for the project/product.
- Ensures consistency of information in the configuration management system for the project / product.
- Participates in the analysis of contractual requirements for Configuration Management, prepares cost and time estimates during the bid and major project phases, and identifies associated risks.
- Participates in the creation of Product Breakdown Structure (PBS)
- Establishes CM baselines (FBL, ABL, PBL)
- Perform, Functional Configuration Audit (FCA), Physical Configuration Audit (PCA), Software Configuration Audits (SCA) and software build verification on software releases.
- Provides support services to resolve configuration management issues during product and project lifecycles; escalate and complete (as much as possible) corrective actions in a timely fashion
- Responsible for maintaining consistency of information in the configuration management system for the project / product both in Country of Origin (COO) and Country of Destination (COD)
- Liaises with other Hitachi Rail unit CM personnel involved in the project as well as with subcontractors/suppliers regarding project CM related issues
Key Requirements - A minimum of 2 to 5 years' experience in monitoring systems, Software/Hardware development, or a direct role in Configuration Management (CM) within Engineering or a related field.
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of CM practices and principles.
- Experience with software and hardware CM and development processes.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with commercial version control and issue tracking tools.
- Knowledge of ClearCase, Git, ClearQuest, JIRA, SAP, DOORS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:- CMII certification
- SW development experience is a significant advantage.
- Railway industry experience (or similar) with an understanding of complex system development is a significant advantage.
- Experience working with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Palma) is a great asset.
