Description

Hitachi Rail Honolulu  is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Lead Track Repairman to work on our Honolulu Rail Project.  As the successful candidate your ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are welcome.  The position is based in Pearl City/Honolulu, HI.

 
Accountabilities:

  • Carry out maintenance of the track system and components
  • Lead the track repair team to maintain the track and third rail system including the renewal and repair of worn or damaged track, switches and frogs ultrasonic testing and track grinding
  • Oversee the operations of OTE equipment including rail grinding machinery, track tamping, electric arc welding, rail welding, grinding and ultrasonic track inspection equipment
  • Compliance with approved maintenance procedures and work instructions
  • Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of track and related infrastructure, equipment performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system
  • Ensure the maintenance tools and equipment are in good condition
  • Operation of OTE engineering track maintenance vehicles and/or locomotives
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records of permanent way and related infrastructure, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system
  • Assist the Track Supervisor and/ or other technical support staff to implement new projects
  • Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty
  • Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the Civil and Track Engineer
  • Role requires flexibility and efficiently which require shift rotation, weekends and holidays work typical of major infrastructure projects and operating transit systems
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned

Required Education/Skills:

  • Track inspection and repair qualification recognized by either FTA or FRA

Desired Skills/ Knowledge:

  • 3 years’ experience working in track maintenance inspection and repair
  • Knowledge of track maintenance and safety standards and instructions

The starting pay for this position is $36.63/hour

Note: In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions
