Description

Hitachi Astemo focuses on advanced and innovative mobility solutions in the field of electrification. As one of the world's leading companies in the design and sales of complex vehicle components and systems, we develop cutting-edge technologies.

The candidate will join a hardware design team responsible for the integration of power electronic converters into automotive modules.
As part of the development of a new module, this internship will focus on:
1. Designing and implementing a valve control system using analog current regulation and based on a discrete component approach.
2. Studying and evaluating the safety aspects of the designed circuits in compliance with normative recommendations, particularly for ASIL D conformity.
3. The design excludes the use of commercial controllers (often limited by their unpredictability or market dependency) and microcontrollers, which require additional resources for calculations and memory management.
The goal is to propose a robust, simplified, and fully analog solution tailored to industrial constraints.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Study the operation of analog circuits for current regulation.
  • Design circuits for valve control using a discrete component-based approach.
  • Simulate the circuits in environments such as LTspice and validate their performance under simulated conditions.
  • Develop prototypes and test the circuits under real-world laboratory conditions.
  • Analyze safety aspects in accordance with functional safety standards (ISO 26262, ASIL D).
  • Document results and formulate recommendations for industrial implementation.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Required degree: engineering school student in Electronics or equivalent (master’s program).
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics and analog electronics, with expertise in designing with discrete components.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as LTspice, MATLAB, and Simulink.
  • Familiarity with testing tools (oscilloscopes, measurement probes, etc.).
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and related methodologies.
  • Competence in PCB design using tools like Altium Designer (a plus).
  • English is required.

Location: Hitachi Astemo Paris: 126 Rue de Stalingrad, 93700 Drancy

Start Date: We are looking for the internship to start in February 2025 for duration of 6 months.
