Job Summary :

You will be reporting to the Field Service Manager, PGHV.  As field service engineer (FSE), you will be responsible for executing service work at customer sites, in accordance with Hitachi Energy and legislative Health and Safety requirements, while ensuring to maintain project schedule and budget, with utmost professionalism and courtesy.

Responsibilities:

  • Building customer relationships and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Making decisions on complex and technical issues.
  • Providing expertise with installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment.
  • Making recommendations to customers with regards to system and equipment performance.
  • Working in collaboration with other departments (sales, marketing, engineering) and bring Field Service expertise.
  • Handling post commissioning warranty activities
  • Performing field assignments to solve customers’ operational problems, optimize the performance of their equipment and commission new equipment
  • Working with Customer on field-related problems
  • Reviewing, interpreting and commenting and recommending on technical specifications, strategy and resolution of technical problems
  • Performing field activities, including testing, inspections and site visits
  • Follows scheduling and administrative procedures
  • Participating in technical training and technical presentations
  • Preparing technical reports following site work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Engineering or Technologist certification
  • 3 years of service experience in power transmission and distribution 
  • Problem solving through research, peer networking and Centre of Excellence networking Experience in field services (in particular with regards to HV breakers, commissioning and repair (gas filling, timing, motion, static & dynamic contact resistance, power factor, etc.)
  • Ability to formulate solutions to technical problems, prepare technical quotations and reports.
  • Able and willing to be called for customer emergency situations and scheduled service calls requiring unsupervised work at customer sites.  This may include some longer-term work assignments at customer sites.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in french and functional in english
  • Good interpersonal skills with customers and co-workers are extremely important.
  • Safety minded and proven safe work record
  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously (as required)
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customers and co-workers are critical.
