Supply Chain Intern is responsible to contribute to the preparation of Departmental reports, creating and updating dashboards and assists with the day-to-day operations of the procurement department, including managing supplier relationships, SAP data and tracking purchase orders.
Work Term - 6 Months Key Accountabilities: - Development analytical reports and analyses using SAP and other internal tools
- Development, maintenance and improvement of different data collection systems using applications which include MS Excel and SAP.
- Improvement and automation of metrics generation tools using SAP and Excel.
- Coordinate forecast management processes working with Project Procurement team, Supply Chain Organization and input the data in SAP
- Generate component forecast to support last time buy activities
- The incumbent will be responsible for providing assistance where necessary in order to support the existing team of the Project Procurement Managers, Supply Chain and/or Materials Management group, and Product HSE / Ecodesign.
- Become knowledgeable about existing company purchasing and logistical policies/procedures and day to day practices with regards to procurements, materials management and logistics
- Review databases within MRP Master Data information records for completeness and purchase requisition. Generate and distribute weekly open PR report in collaboration with the PPM and tactical buyer team
- Liaise on a regular basis with the PPM,MC, tactical buyers and PSCLs to understand the needs of Procurement, Supply base and constraints to ensure that PR planning is geared up to the Project needs.
- Manage several minor projects and work closely with other functional departments as necessary to insure successful completion
- Generate weekly open PR report and coordinate the calls for PR allocation
- Identify business entity responsible for component / part purchases (internal, subcontractor, etc) and facilitate communication between purchasing entity and Hitachi Rail GTS Canada Inc.
Key Requirements: - Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and collaborate with other functional areas
- Tenacity and ability to follow issues through to closure
- Understanding of BoM structures (where a component is used)
- Any Purchasing system (SAP) experience to identify purchasing organization for a component (direct by HRGTSC, or contract manufacturer, other)
- Experience with supplier communication an asset
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with SAP
- Previous internship or work experience in procurement or supply chain management
