Job description
HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Signaling V&V Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Accountabilities:
  • Review of the requirements traceability matrix and expected features for the testing environments/tools, needed to execute the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) System Validation, Testing & Integration activities at project level;
  • Development of validation test plans per the internal;
  • Development & review of validation test procedures from Signaling system and Signaling subsystem requirements and RAMS Hazard Analysis;
  • Execution of validation testing on: interlocking subsystems, and signaling systems in simulation, on target hardware, and in the field (wiring shop);
  • The assurance of accurate and complete tracking of validation testing defects, using standard database tools;
  • Development & review of validation test reports, per the internal, AREMA Standards;
  • Accountable for working with Project Engineer as a WPLs to adhere to project schedules and budgets and adhering to those on a monthly basis;
  • Verification for completeness and consistency input documents into RAMS from engineering;
  • Coordination with the project team, to guarantee that the FAT Validation, Testing and Integration activities are executed in the most effective and efficient manner: on quality, on time and on budget;
  • Validation review of testing results for signaling and nonsignaling subsystem and system integration testing in the field.

Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; able to read and understand schematics, books of plans, and other mechanical drawings;
  • Working knowledge of IXL Application Signaling Principles Testing;
  • Working knowledge of Hitachi STS USA products {MicroLok, Track Circuits, Switch Machines, TWC, Vital relays;
  • Excellent communication skills [verbal and written];
  • Working knowledge in DOORS, RTC, Microsoft Office Products; limited knowledge of National Instruments LabVIEW;
  • Knowledge of computer virtualization;
  • Experience in FAT and field relay testing of all vital relays prior to plug in and room breakdown testing;
  • Ability to test signal equipment & circuits;
  • Ability to place signals systems into service;
  • Ability to interpret contract specification.

Desired Skills/ Knowledge:
  • Proficient knowledge and work in a signaling system V&V testing environment;
  • Limited working knowledge of Safety analysis and RAM analysis;
  • Proficient in PLC control system development and LabVIEW;
  • Experienced in Validation of different types of signaling systems (Relay, Microprocessor, PTC, CBTC).
