POSITION TITLE:                 Material Control Planner

DEPARTMENT NAME:         Sales Administration Department LSD/NSD/EED

REPORTING TO TITLE:       Manager, Material Control


Responsible for forecasting, planning, scheduling and monitoring movement of material. Analyzes material requirements resulting from MRP through transaction in SAP.

  • Forecast, plan, and schedule MRP for assigned products
  • Analyze the output of MRP for assigned products initiating Purchase requisitions or sub-contract PO to obtain the required materials
  • Analyze inventory levels and monthly usage to determine appropriate re-order points or input for forecasted demand
  • Expedite parts and material with the factory and suppliers. 
  • Work closely with all vendors
  • Issue PO to assigned vendors and keep open PO due date’s current
  • Maintain SAP Material Master Data (e.g.: adding part numbers, BOMS)
  • Perform miscellaneous inventory transactions as required
  • Collaborate with the Customer Support team to coordinate drop shipments to the customers
  • Ensure inventory accuracy balances from day to day activities as well during physical inventory
  • Coordinate physical inventory counting with the Field Service Engineering team as well as regular sales stock
  • Coordinate RMA’s from the field, help with the disposition of RMA’s and generate documents to rebuild or repair as necessary
  • Work closely with other departments within HTA


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management or related field, (OR)
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Three to five (3-5)  years’ experience in a high tech material planning, inventory control or related environment
  • Understand basic business practices as they relate to shipping, receiving, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general accountability for materials
  • Knowledge of computerized ERP (MRP) system or other inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge/experience in working with SAP is preferred
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office suites
  • Knowledge in forecasting logic
  • In-depth knowledge, skills and understanding of electric-mechanical devices with software control systems and their function 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
