Your new role


In this exciting new role you will manage a portfolio of SAP and other Business Systems Projects by leading cross-functional teams in defining, scoping, planning, executing and delivering exceptional business value and benefits on time and within budget.


Specifically, you will:


  • Build and lead a team of ten direct reports for delivering Business Systems Projects, developing the in-house capability to establish and improve the systems internally. 
  • Drive all the related project management activities, ensuring timely delivery and execution whilst safeguarding quality standards and governance requirements and providing a consistently reliable service to sponsors and key stakeholders.
  • Own the full end to end of the Project Delivery Lifecycle for all Business Systems from concept/blueprint, implementation, training, all the way through to early life support and ongoing BAU support.
  • Act as first point escalation for all stakeholders across all projects, taking ownership and being accountable for problems resolution and using technical business and strategic knowledge to support appropriate decision making.
  • Actively own and manage Change and Improvement initiatives, implementing and enforcing a coherent Business Systems Change Management procedure and framework.
  • Develop and maintain a Transition Methodology to ensure a smooth transfer from Projects to SAP Support without any service disruption. 
  • Ensure detailed and up-to-date documentation is produced and maintained for all SAP solutions delivered.
  • Report escalations and exceptions to normal project plan/changes to critical path, potential delays or deviations in time cost or quality.
  • Produce Monthly Reports for presentation to key stakeholders providing accurate resource forecasts at any point in time for use in decision making around project request management, release planning or change impact analysis.


About you


In order to be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following traits and attributes:


  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to nurture, support and develop team
  • Strong general knowledge and experience of working with SAP modules, especially PM, PP, MM and QM, preferably gained in a project management and/or operations environment
  • Solid understanding of JSOX / COBIT framework, associated methodologies and practices to ensure fully compliant support and maintenance
  • Experience of at least one significant Transition into Support from a large, multiple SAP Module project
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative approach and the ability to work well with stakeholders at all levels and from different cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent organisation skills and an analytical rigour to solve problems and drive business Improvement initiatives
  • Willingness to work flexibly and travel extensively around UK and Europe.



  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent experience.
  • ITIL Practitioner (ITIL Service Design, Service Transition, Service Strategy, Service Ops) or equivalent experience
  • Project management qualifications (preferably APM, APMP, Prince 2, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma) or equivalent experience
