R&D Automotive Intern, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)

Hours: 9am-6pm (with a one-hour lunch break), Monday - Friday

 

Summary:

The Hitachi America, Ltd. (www.hitachi-america.us) is looking for a candidate currently pursuing their Master’s/Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related engineering field to join our Research & Development team as an intern. The intern will be involved in cutting edge research for automotive industry. The Intern will be involved in research related to the U.S. Automotive Industry. The specific focus will be on projects related to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) measurements and simulation for electric powertrain system. The intern will also periodically communicate with the supervisor to define the scope of the work and to document the research.


Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in Ph.D./Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or in a related engineering field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electromagnetic, analog and digital circuit theory is required.
  •  Ability to analyze and document the simulation and experimental results is required.
  •  Strong technical presentation, writing & communication skills are required.
  • Experience using EDA software such as LTSpice, Agilent ADS, ANSYS Simplorer, etc. is required.
  • Programming experience in MATLAB/Simulink, and/or C/C++, Python is required.
  • Experience in working with measurement tools like Vector Network Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, etc. is required.
  • Basic electrical engineering laboratory skills like soldering is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Knowledge and understanding of electric invertor and motor control theory
  •  Experience using 3D electromagnetic simulation software such as ANSYS Maxwell, HFSS
  •  Programming experience in SPICE, VHDL-AMS
  •  Knowledge of electromagnetic test environments like ALSE, Shield room
  •  Easily and regularly move about all locations throughout facility and must be able to lift and maneuver over short distances objects that weigh approximately 30lbs.
