Your new role

Hitachi Rail Limited are currently recruiting for an experienced Warranty & Repair Officer to join our team based at our state of the art train maintenance centre in Doncaster. You will be working as a part of our service delivery supply chain, reporting to the Materials and planning manager.

 

In this exciting new role, you will manage warranty & repair activities including: monitoring of parts in the repair cycle, identification of materials under warranty conditions and negotiation of warranty payments.

 

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Monitoring of parts during the repair cycle, including evaluation of quotes from supplier, timings, and expectation of stock return
  • Identifying any trends in repair requirements and feeding back into the necessary teams
  • Responsibility for ensuring that warranty claims are made where applicable
  • Negotiation and chasing of suppliers where warranty is still applicable
  • Responsibility for ensuring all systems are up to date with stock locations and availability
  • Working with suppliers to negotiate or manage any changes to warranty requirements or warranty life identified
  • Identify any additional training requirements or processes required to ensure that warranties are observed and that parts under warranty are claimed as such
  • Monitoring of warranty rejections and reporting to the planning manager
  • Day to day warranty trouble shooting with operational staff
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required

Qualifications

About you

Essential Requirements 

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and to communicate clearly and effectively any concerns
  • Microsoft office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience of managing a portfolio of suppliers
  • Capable of understanding detailed requirements of multiple different contracts
  • Engineering background with clear basic knowledge
  • Good analytical ability
  • Proven negotiation capacity
  • Full understanding of the payment cycle and contractual requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Commitment to working as part of a team
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment
 

Desirable Requirements

  • Supply Chain experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering environment
  • Contract manager experience
