Your new role
 

Hitachi Rail are looking for an Outstation Manager to lead the Swansea Maliphant train maintenance centre. This role is responsible for depot based planning and management of all production related activities regarding maintenance and defect rectification, fleet campaigns, modifications and improvements to Hitachi rolling stock assets.

 

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Provide line management for shift team leaders.
  • Continued development of all unit maintenance objectives to maturity.

  • Overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and profitable operation of unit maintenance at responsible Outstation.

  • Management of the HRL Maliphant TMC budget including responsibility for delivering financial and KPI targets.

  • Unit maintenance and availability aspects of IEP TSA delivery and compliance.

  • Establishing a constructive working relationship with relevant Trade Unions and, in liaison with HR, working with them to ensure positive outcomes with regards to day to day industrial relations.

  • Liaison with relevant Train Operating Companies and Maintenance Control to ensure their reasonable expectations are managed and met within the constraints of applicable contractual arrangements.

  • Plan and implementation of appropriate management systems to fulfil the requirements of the Depot Access Agreement and Train Service Agreement

  • Supporting and developing an effective depot CI culture.

  • Other relevant duties as allocated by Depot Manager.

     
About you
 
Essential
  • Extensive managerial experience working within a rail maintenance environment

  • Proven stakeholder management ability
  • Planning and scheduling experience
  • Railway and engineering operations knowledge
  • Understanding of contracts and KPI awareness.
  • Strong health and safety awareness

Qualifications

  • Mechanical & Electrical HNC, served engineering apprenticeship or an equivalent level of experience.

 
Behavioural
  • Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external)

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times
