Your new role

As an Electronic Engineer you will play an key role in the approval process of our range of commuter and high speed trains, by compiling detailed information regarding the train in a database, designed and managed by you! This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Graduate with relevant work experience.


In this exciting new role you will support the approval process (certification and testing) for all new databases, providing guidance to all internal stakeholders where required.


Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:


  • Creating, updating and monitoring the on-board TCMS and PIS databases for the AT200 and AT300 fleets, as well as any new requirement for future projects; Act as the interface between the UK, Italy and Japanese engineering teams. Some travel in Europe and to Japan is expected.
  • Excellent knowledge of systems integration is as you will need to liaise with other system engineers, maintenance, testing and commercial functions.
  • Technical support for existing Hitachi products.
  • Participate in customer facing design reviews; provide bid support and management for new products and technical support for contract reviews.
 
About you
  • Knowledge of Train configuration, electric circuit diagrams reading;
  • Experience of designing/testing electronic systems.
  • Good programming skills, being able to read, understand and develop support scripts in at least 2 of the following programming languages:
  • VBA
  • Matlab scripting
  • Python
  • Lua
  • Good aptitude for PC simulation, preferably with some experience in modelling and simulating in Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow.
  • Knowledge of the UK/EU Railway Operations, Engineering and standards
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
