Role Overview
This role is to be one of a small team providing the whole range of IT functions to the business across the HICSE sites and remote staff, with an increasing involvement in the development and production environments. As part of a small team, this role requires multiple skills and experience in technical aspects, as well as incident management, small project management, systems analysis and training. The successful candidate will have strong, hands-on technical skills to support infrastructure configuration, able to quickly find root cause and leading to effective low-risk resolution.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Based in Bradford-on-Avon and reporting to the IT Manager, tasks shall include but not be limited to:
Working in a support environment on technical, applications and business issues – incidents and change, both small and large
Working on small projects from inception to delivery, including writing documents to support project activities
Working independently and as part of the IT team or business teams
Achieving success in the role will be indicated by performance on tasks such as:
Adherence to the HICSE Business Management System
Support queue maintenance
Using hands-on technical skill to resolve complex incidents quickly
Dealing with users in a professional and courteous manner
Ensuring frequent communication with users, suppliers and the rest of the team
Qualifications
Key Skills and Experience
Previous experience of working in an IT Support environment
Hands-on experience of working with PCs and servers (Microsoft and Linux), including their configuration
Experience of VM Ware server creation and virtual server concepts
Awareness of Active Directory and its use through Microsoft
Awareness of networking concepts and configuration such as VLAN
Experience of working with switches and routers, especially Cisco
Willingness and confidence to take on variety of tasks required to keep the business running and support the user community
Able to work well and think clearly under pressure
Technical skills balanced with business and application awareness
Able to work independently and take responsibility for the successful completion of tasks and projects
Team player, able to communicate and cooperate with the IT team and wider business
