Your new role

Hitachi Rail Limited are currently recruiting for an experienced Change and Configuration Controller to join our team in Doncaster. You will be working as a part of our service and maintenance engineering department, reporting to the Senior Change & Configuration Engineer

 

In this exciting new role, you will be responsible for supporting the change & configuration team by ensuring change & configuration is managed in line with business procedures throughout the entire life of unit.

 

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

 
  • Assisting with the unit traceable component structure (asset tree), identifying components and  those assemblies and sub-assemblies to be tracked by serial number for all HRE fleets
  • Identifying any errors or mistakes in all necessary information to be recorded against components within the asset tree and correct the issues.
  • Assisting in ensuring SAP data for configurable items is correct make updates as required.
  • Supporting software requirements for change and configuration where necessary.
  • Ensuring component and sub component exchanges, overhauls and operational information are captured and recorded sufficiently
  • Ensuring Engineering Change is recorded and controlled effectively.
  • Liaising with European and Japanese factories, as well as other sources to obtain all necessary information from the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBoM) during build phase of the units.
  • Liaison with Hitachi and external personnel as required by the duties of the post.
  • Travel (within the UK) will be required for short periods of time to support all the UK fleets.

Qualifications

About you

Essential
Licences / Competences
  • Experience in dealing with configuration management across a large fleet(s) of assets
  • Experience in using SAP for product structures and configuration management
  • High attention to detail and quality control
 
Qualifications
  • A minimum of HND or higher in an engineering discipline
 
Behavioural
  • Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations
  • Written and verbal communication skills to a very high standard
  • Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times
  • Position holder must be able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company
  • A team worker, capable of working with a range of skill sets and cultures
 
Desirable
Licences / Competences
  • Advanced IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
