Hitachi Rail is currently seeking a Lead Technician to join our team in Ashford, Kent at our state of the art Train Maintenance Centre. This is a permanent position working a rotating day and night shift.
In this exciting role, you will be responsible for undertaking corrective and preventative maintenance, servicing, complex fault finding and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
Assist maintenance teams with in-depth faults, passing on fault finding skills.
Assist in identifying root cause of defects using Hitachi Root Cause Analysis tools and procedures
Prepare for and undertake the removal and replacement of traction and rolling stock components
Carry out planned modification tasks on Hitachi rolling stock assets
Assemble and install traction and rolling stock components using engineering processes and techniques
Identify and rectify defects on Hitachi rolling stock assets
Support the DSM (Lead Technician) in identifying repeat defects on Hitachi rolling stock assets and suggest / carry out repairs
Create technical scopes of work for fault rectification by other members of staff
Assist Support Engineers with regards to reliability improvements to rolling stock assets
Attend and provide technical support with failures in service when on duty
Identify and provide continuous improvement suggestions
Maintain the condition of the work site, materials and equipment
Adhere to health, safety, environmental & quality practices in the workplace
Prepare for and undertake planned task based maintenance and unplanned defect maintenance activities
Confirm that traction and rolling stock assets comply with operational specifications by the use of engineering processes and techniques
Read and extract information from traction and rolling stock drawings and specifications
Keep Equinox record system up to date with clear and concise information of work carried out.
Develop professionally and support good working relationships
Learn new skills in accordance with Hitachi’s new business demands as required
M & E HNC or served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines
Engineering based NVQ level 3
Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations
Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times
