Under the direction of department management, exercises responsibility for execution of Quality Assurance strategies and tactical plans at (HIAMS)AM sites. This position develops priorities and objectives in cooperation with each site management team and oversees implementation. Position serves as a corporate resource to all Quality staff and management teams at all sites. This position exercises independent judgment routinely and operates within established guidelines.
Job Summary: Includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific (HIAMS)AM site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company):
Lead warranty interface between the customer quality and engineering departments and the manufacturing facilities.
Using Customer warranty systems, warranty data would be pulled and analyzed to suite both Customer warranty information requests as well as internal requests.
Required to work closely with the Hitachi manufacturing plants to insure that the data is used to drive costs associated with warranty down by leading various warranty reduction improvement projects.
Provide up to date warranty data and analysis to Customer’s systems and share the analysis internally within Hitachi.
Managing of warranty part returns at Customer warranty centers, logging and maintaining warranty log, and present warranty teardown analysis.
Ensure that affected plants understand the root causes of warranty found through part returns and that actions are quickly taken to eliminate said cause.
Work with Hitachi manufacturing and accounting department to evaluate, approve, and reduce warranty debits by Customer.
Collaborate with team to ensure PowerPoint presentations are compiled for customer visits to Hitachi’s various manufacturing facilities and/or customer meetings.
Work with internal purchasing and design engineering teams to ensure Hitachi is prepared to acquire new business.
Use data to drive ownership / share rate percentages down as they pertain to warranty bills by Customers.
Provide continuous updates to customers pertaining to status of warranty improvement items.
Visit customers as necessary; working to meet customer satisfaction.
Ensure that manufacturing facilities establish clear and concise timelines for when action items will be implemented and ensure they work towards meeting these timelines.
Monitor effectiveness of warranty improvement actions.
Facilitate root cause analysis.
Maintain a safe workplace and follow all regulations and requirements related to safety and environmental compliance.
Follow all quality policy standards.
Knowledge skills and abilities: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possess ability to perform duties utilizing current company software applications. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills required. This position performs job duties in an ethical and professional manner. Must be able to work from Engineering specifications, manuals, drawings, established procedures, verbal and written instructions, use a variety of precision measuring equipment. Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal. Must possess basic supervisory skills, SPC, FMEA, 8-D corrective action and DOE knowledge. KAIZEN activities.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering field.
Experience: At least 3 years prior related experience preferred. Less than 3 years of in-field experience can be supplemented by an advanced (Master’s) degree. Six Sigma certification strongly preferred.
