Your new role

As an Assistant Project Manager you’ll be joining a new team in our Service and Maintenance Technology function who are spear heading a new project for us at Hitachi Rail to deliver new train to shore technology.

 

In this exciting new role as an Assistant Project Manager you’ll play a key role in delivering train to shore technology for a number of new fleet projects and transition projects including knowledge transfer and technical documentation to the BAU support team.


Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Supporting delivery of Hitachi Fleet Monitoring (HFMT) Tool for new fleets.
  • Managing key project management activities within the programme team and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Working with the suppliers and wider internal team to transition projects into business as usual.
  • Providing technical support to the service support teams in triaging project related technical issues where required and will transfer the knowledge accordingly to the support team.
  • Documenting on-boarding process and coordinating with the suppliers for on-boarding HFMT for the new trains.
  • Providing daily support to the project teams and represent Service & Technology team at the meetings.
  • Liaising with the suppliers and holding them to account for deliverables, developing joint delivery plans and reporting progress to the stakeholders
  • Documenting and producing technical documents where required and transferring the knowledge to the support teams
  • Co-ordinate user acceptance tests and producing relevant documentation to promote the changes into production environment
 
About you
  • Previous experience in project delivery, design, procurement, implementation, support and admin
  • Knowledge of and experience in developing project plans and documenting product technical information
  • Experience in managing suppliers, contractors and hold them to account for deliverables
  • In-depth, hands-on working knowledge in application (software, web, mobile) development with experience of cloud-based technologies, mobile networks and communications, data warehouse and lake, Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting applications
  • Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of cloud technologies/solutions e.g. SaaS, PaaS
  • Hands on experience of Software Development Lifecycles and their application in an agile environment
  • Experience of Support Models, including SLA. Escalation and Service Management
  • Experience of risk assessments, management and mitigation
  • Experience in application technology testing – unit, integration and acceptance testing
  • Experience of fulfilling a client facing role and working with senior management and Executives
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills (successfully lead and managed end-to-end technology services and or technology operations)
  • An excellent level of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills – oral, written and presentation
  • Experience of project management, including project plans, budgeting/costing, risk management
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills with internal/external stakeholders as well as 3rd party organisations

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a degree in Information Security, Computer Science or Computing, or equivalent certifications and experience
