About the Opportunity

With strong growth in our Remanufacturing Team and service operations, our Brisbane branch has a new and exciting opportunity for a Workshop based Heavy Equipment Diesel Fitter to join the Hitachi team based in Wacol. This is a permanent full time position working on the day shift and will see you focus on all aspects of Heavy Diesel mechanics and mobile plant equipment fitting.

This role will be best suited to someone who enjoys varied and interesting work as you will learn to execute a range of OEM level services with a core focus on diagnostics, maintenance and repairs for our valued customer base. You will gain first-hand experience of what it means to deliver high level service for Hitachi customers when overhauling minor and major hydraulic and mechanical components on various equipment lines.

About you - As a key member of the team, you will need:

  • Safety Commitment - Proactive awareness and total assurance of Hitachi's number one priority - always exercising a high standard of precaution and duty of care to yourself and for others around you.
  • Qualifications - Minimum Certificate III in a Mechanical Engineering discipline such as a Mechanical Fitter, Diesel Fitter, Maintenance Fitter and Fitter & Turner.
  • Experience & Skillset - Heavy Diesel maintenance fitters with demonstrated work experience and technical knowledge of construction & mining equipment - Hitachi equipment experience highly regarded
  • Great Teammate - A contagiously positive attitude and ability to work alongside in results driven team, coaching And mentoring aspiring apprentices to also grow and succeed
  • Analytical thinking - Ability to navigate complex technical issues in repair and maintenance services with minimal to zero rework, completing and submitting all relevant paperwork and reports
  • Autonomous productivity - Undertaking diagnostic work, failure analysis and repairs; liaising with technical specialists when required
