Project Financial Controller (12 FTC)

Your new role

As a Project Financial Controller you will work across a number of critical rolling stock, mobility technology and construction projects, acting as most a business partner to challenge, advise and influence.


In this exciting new role you will have a broad scope of responsibilities including being supporting with critical project investment decisions and working closely with Project Directors to provide exception financial insight into their portfolio of projects, ensuring they can make informed and commercial astute decisions.


Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Support Project Mangers in the financial control of their projects

  • Reporting, analysing and challenging of all Project costs

  • Production of accurate and on time budgets and forecasts for projects

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports on actual performance against budgets and forecast, providing in depth variance analysis

  • At month end liaise with finance department to ensure quality and timely information is provided for preparation of monthly management reporting

  • Manage the process for forecasting and reporting of Liquidated Damages

  • Support the process for costing variation orders through to submission to customer

  • Work with the Risk team to identify and quantify areas of risk and opportunity, and assist with managing these areas

  • Manage sales invoices, milestone payments and related matters. Working closely with other finance teams

  • Liaise with Finance teams in Japan and Italy to manage the process of changing scope of works from financial perspective


About you

  • Significant experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in project accounting
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience in project cost management including; estimating, planning and reporting

  • Experienced in SAP – Especially PS module
  • Experience of working in matrix environment with multiple reporting lines

  • Excellent inter-personal skills and be able to work as part of a cross-cultural team


  • Fully qualified accountant (ideally CIMA, but consider ACCA and ACA)
