Your new role


Our Engineering team in London are proud of their supportive and collaborative working culture. They work on projects not only in the UK but also internationally, sharing and gaining knowledge from our colleagues across the world.


In this exciting new role as a Mechanical Engineer you will be support all existing, new and future projects.


Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:


  • Providing design support for mechanical systems for Hitachi’s range of commuter and high speed trains.
  • Supporting the approval process (certification and testing) for all new systems, providing guidance to the factory where required.
  • Determining the design requirements for mechanical systems (Couplers, Carbody, Bogies, HVAC, Doors, etc.)
  • Working closely with the test and commissioning teams, supporting the approvals process
  • Supporting the design process/supplier selection of all mechanical systems
  • Managing Suppliers, including fault investigation process.
  • Participating in customer facing design review provide bid support and management for new products and technical support for contract reviews

About you


To be successful in this role, we’re looking for some who can demonstrate the majority of the following skills and experience:


  • Excellent knowledge of systems integration is a requirement as you will need to liaise with other system engineers, maintenance, testing and commercial functions.
  • Knowledge of fault investigation during dynamic commissioning stage is a requirement as you need to liaise with Kasado and Mito engineer. Ridding on test train is required, where necessary.
  • Knowledge of Train configuration, mechanical drawings,  control and pneumatic circuits.
  • Experience of designing/testing train systems.
  • Knowledge of the UK/EU Railway Operations, Engineering and standards
  • Good communication skills
