The Role

We are seeking an experienced Network Support/Integration Engineer to be the lead for Network Operations projects (Americas) and drive operational excellence. A few of the things this lead engineer will do include technical design, moving and decommissioning company office locations, aggregating and monitoring global real estate activity and updating upline management , remediating vulnerabilities and working on automation and scripting solutions,.

Working with Network Engineering team, this role will also be responsible for maintaining and ensuring standards of execution and physical infrastructure build specifications for remote site locations including low voltage infrastructure standards and design, HVAC specification for MDF/IDF(s), equipment install elevations, and cost forecasting for prospective builds for all components of the IT infrastructure globally.

  • Create network documentation including BOMS, site drawings, rack elevations, network connectivity, etc according to predefined standards and/or as directed from the project team; ensure documentation is complete and updated prior to operational turn over
  • Ensure projects deliverables are in adherence to project plan schedules and standards; ensure punch out lists are completed prior to project closure
  • Provide remote support (travel to sites) for equipment turn up and troubleshooting, office deployments
  • Input material / service acquisition orders in to ERP/Procurement tool; track delivery of materials and services
  • Support ongoing inventory management efforts
  • Contribute to continual quality improvement of process and operations by developing and implementing new ideas or supporting team initiatives
  • Schedule and deliver runbook review and operations turnover to both Network and Service Desk teams
  • Network operations support will include as needed:
    • Troubleshoot network outages related to routing, switching, firewall, optimization and carrier issues.
    • Provide escalation support during critical outages
    • Resolve assigned trouble tickets and service requests per SLA
    • Participate in root cause analysis and other Problem Management process
    • Provide coverage as needed

  • Requires 5+ years of technical experience in the field of networking
  • Candidate must have at least 3 years' experience in implementing and supporting networking and telecom infrastructure deployment projects
  • Be knowledgeable in all aspects of voice/data/fiber design and installation
  • College degree in Engineering, Technology or related field
  • In depth knowledge of:
    • Infrastructure support experience with respect to cable plant topologies, cable media types and standards, HVAC and electrical requirements for equipment MDF and IDF rooms, and floor plan mark up.
    • Physical cable media types such as CAT5e, CAT6, SMF, and MMF
    • Cisco routers, switches, wireless controllers, WAPs and firewalls; Palo Alto Network firewalls; Blue Coat Proxy; Riverbed, Infoblox
    • Network management tools: LiveAction; SolarWinds/Orion NCM, NPM, APM, or other SNMP tools
    • Protocol analyzers (Wireshark and/or Wildpackets)
    • Security protocols (IPSec), encryption technologies (3DES, AES)
    • IDS/IPS systems
    • LAN Protocols (10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet, WiFi)
    • WAN protocols (MPLS, DMVPN, VPN)
    • Routing Protocols (EIRGP, OSPF, BGP)
    • Network problem analysis and troubleshooting
    • Network infrastructure hardware and protocols (TCP/IP, switches, bridges, routers, proxy servers, VPN concentrators)
    • WAN protocols (MPLS, DMVPN)
    • Routing Protocols (EIRGP, OSPF, BGP)
    • Network problem analysis and troubleshooting
    • BlueCoat proxy servers or other content filtering systems.
  • Travel required. International and Domestic. ~30% Travel will vary from several night stays to multi week stays in rare situations. Many trips will be weekend stays as required (ex. Thursday to Tuesday.)
