Under the direction of department management, the MRO negotiates and develops suppliers to achieve departmental cost reduction goals.


 Chief Duties and/or Responsibilities:


  1. Research new vendors for benchmarking and determine suppliers for MRO parts (Indirect Materials).  Developing cost reduction strategies to proceed with negotiation with various suppliers to achieve departmental cost reduction target.


  2. Negotiating with indirect material (MRO) suppliers to obtain best possible prices and services.


  3. Evaluates MRO suppliers by reviewing services and cost periodically by comparing to competitive market prices.


  4. Review service contracts and vending machine contracts for indirect (MRO) items including central store stocked items.



  5. Processes purchase orders for indirect (MRO) materials procured. Follows up any delivery problems or issues with suppliers as needed. Make sure that production lines will not be disrupted by supply failure.


  6. Assists in the promotion of departmental Kaizen activities.


  7. Coordinates invoice disputes between suppliers and Accounting department


  8. Performs all other duties as needed and directed by Manager.


Qualified Applicants will possess the following:


  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Two (2) years experience in buying or purchasing department preferred. 

  1. Personal computer skills, mainframe operations as it relates to procurement, related software, and knowledge of purchasing/accounting processes required.  

  1. Must have excellent verbal and written communications skill set.  

4.  Well - organized and able to carry out assignments with moderate supervision.



Supervisory Responsibilities:


Physical Demands

No physical exertion required.  Required to sit for long periods of time.

Work Environment: 

Majority of time is spent in a typical office environment.  However, there will be times when spending several hours at a time in a factory floor environment is necessary.
