The Supply Chain Engineer will be responsible for the division’s overall Supply Chain Strategy in order to maximize process efficiency and productivity. This position is also responsible Supplier Relationship and Performance Management to ensure the best support for operations.
Plan and implement overall Supply Chain Strategy that incorporates cost structure, demand management, Corporate CSR, customer requirements, risk management, new product development and service capabilities of the division.
Work closely with Product Management, Finance, and Engineering, to develop and maintain technology and/or product strategies.
Support development of Requests for New Product Development (NPD) / Requests for Proposal (RFP), support analysis of RFP's, and development of manufacturing location or supplier recommendations based upon RFP assessments.
Develop strategies to mitigate risk in the supply chain, overall and for specific new product programs.
Responsible for overall Supplier Relationship Management to include but not limited to sourcing, evaluation and selection, negotiation, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Review operation documents and verify understanding of business terms, service level metrics, fixed/variable cost changes and statements of work.
Locate and vet suitable suppliers to meet the needs of the business units.
Provide compliance flow downs (e.g., GRESS, RoHS, REACH, Conflict Materials) to suppliers and garner supporting documentation from those suppliers.
Ensure assigned supply base meets delivery and quality objectives.
Set and reinforce expectation of Zero Defects from our suppliers; address defect issues as needed.
Lead, drive, and support quality investigations; including documentation and report of findings.
Ensure timely and effective supplier oversight quality and capacity audits.
Set and reinforce expectation of suppliers to adjust and perform to need date changes.
Collaborate with others on demand forecast, and inventory planning process improvements.
Align supply chain processes to support replenishment strategies.
Identify and prioritize potential critical shortages, explore and act on alternate mitigation paths.
Manage supplier transitions (all types) to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
Review engineering change requests and implement design changes and revisions with suppliers.
Acquire/Maintain Preliminary Review (PR) and Material Review Authorization documentation.
Develop and maintaining strong global supplier relationships, including supplier site visits and relationships at all levels of their organization.
Responsible for Commodity Strategy and Cost Control.
Drive continuous improvement in all key performance areas.
Understand current commodity landscape and develop 2-5 year roadmap.
Support development and maintenance of supplier rating system.
Collaborate with others to establish appropriate goals for commodity addressing total cost of acquisition.
Implement cost reduction change requests in a timely fashion to support business cost objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent direct work experience.
2-5 Years work experience in Supply Chain Management within manufacturing or engineering related industry.
2 years working directly with suppliers, vendors, internal and external customers.
Excellent communication skills, to included technical writing, presentations, and developing interpersonal relationships both internally and externally.
Proficient in use of various software analysis tools and data bases such as excel, access, PowerPoint.
Highly self-motivated with strong solution focus and results- oriented work ethic.
Ability to prioritize various projects while maintaining flexibility in conjunction with needs of division.
