General Responsibilities:

Under general direction of a higher level engineer or manager, the primary responsibility of this position is to support the manufacturing site for product design transfer, program launch activities, VEC projects  , product quality investigations and preparation of various design related engineering documentation, used in automotive suspension design and application.


Job Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of this position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Interfacing with global product development teams to support the design information transfer
  • of new products into the manufacturing sites for successful production launch.
  • Support plant product quality activities concerning customer concerns and internal Lost Cost reduction projects.  
  • Participate in Design Dept VEC projects by coordinating / leading support actions required from the plant Operations teams .   
  • Preparation and management of various Design Dept engineering related documents
  • Participate in various plant KPI cost reduction activity that involves impacts / inputs related to product design or manufacturing process.
  • Facilitate productive daily product / program communication between global Design teams and the plant Operations depts.
  • Coordinate / Support requirements for on-site product validation or investigation testing.
  • Participate in the plant feasibility review / quotation activity for potential new or revised existing business programs.   
  • Knowledge of TS16949 requirements to support job responsibilities.
  • Use of CAD to perform minor design drawing changes or perform design investigations in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Support and facilitate necessary CAD/CAE activity to meet customer requirements


Qualifications (Education, Skills and/or special Knowledge):

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a bachelor degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline)
  • Have a minimum of 1-5 years applicable experience in related field
  • Have working knowledge and experience with APQP program management
  • Be proficient with
    •  Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    •  Microsoft Project
  • Experience with the following is desired, (not required)
    • CAD software (i.e. CATIA V4, V5, UG, Solidworks preferred)
    • Math software - Matlab/Simulink,
    • Programming Language - Visual Basic, C++
    • Statistical software – ie. Minitab
  • Have experience tracking and reporting design changes.
  • Have experience coordinating and facilitating several small projects or one major project.
  • Experience interfacing with customers is a plus.


Additionally, the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required as are strong/effective verbal and written communication skills.  Experience with PCs and the above application software as well as Lotus Notes is also preferred.
