Your new role

In this exciting new role you will being working in a new PMO function, to plan and deliver business improvement projects across our business, playing a critical role in our UK growth plans!

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Ensure work streams/Packages, Projects and Programs are delivered effectively to time, budget and plan
  • Identify, manage and liaise with internal stakeholders as necessary to deliver activities to plan
  • Produce and maintain progress reports as required by the Group Head
  • Control and monitor each work-stream through a number of Key performance indicators
  • Line and cross function management of a direct or indirect team and offer them support and guidance to ensure project delivery
  • Ensure the projects and work streams have appropriate project governance is in place monitoring progress, risks and issues and maintain regular reviews
  • Ensure that project management documentation is created and maintained to appropriate standards, including but not limited to; project plans, management reporting, risk, issue and change logs, as appropriate
  • Monitor progress of all open actions, issues and risks associated with the effective delivery of the project
  • Escalate issues and  risks, to the Group Head and sponsor accordingly
  • Ensure that standard project management documents are adopted by the team, in line with company policy and procedure
  • Supporting the team  in building business cases, resource plans and other key documents as required
  • Effective communication and engagement with all personnel at all levels throughout the business (both internal and external stakeholders)
  • Ensure that all project information is organised and accurately documented to enable auditors/inspectors to perform an audit trail through a project's life cycle and demonstrate appropriate compliance

About you
  • Previous experience and a proven track-record of successful project implementation in the rail industry or other high-profile infrastructure projects are essential.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully seeing large, time pressured and complex projects through the entire ‘lifecycle’
  • An appreciation and understanding of the differences working with International companies and stakeholders across different cultures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders and sub suppliers at all levels to achieve objectives
  • Works well on own initiative, setting clear targets for deliverables with appropriate urgency
  • A self-starter willing to take responsibility for delivery of goals and objectives working remote from main offices when required.
  • Proven ability to co-ordinate several existing teams, in different countries, and drive them to deliver against plan.
  • Good overall knowledge and experience working in and with the Rail Industry, preferably in Operations and Maintenance.
