Job Summary:  

This position supports all aspects of PCI’s supply chain procurement process.  It coordinates material purchasing to support the manufacturing schedule with quality materials, approved manufacturers’ part numbers from approved suppliers so that materials are available to the production department as scheduled in the MRP/ERP system.  This position interfaces with Engineering, Manufacturing, Material Control, Inventory Control and Finance to ensure all facets of the procurement process flow seamlessly through our system, from RFQ to payment.  This position also maintains updated lead times for all commodities, plans material buys out past MRP/ERP schedules, establishes and coordinates critical supplier contacts, expedites materials and schedules receipts to meet production/customer requirements while maximizing inventory usage and minimizing inventory investments.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 


1.   General Purchasing/Procurement (75 % of time spent)


1.1   Quote, buy, and schedule inventory items per the MRP/ERP system

1.2   Quote and purchase non-inventory and service items from properly approved Purchase Requisitions

1.3   Maintain proper Purchasing field entries in the MRP/ERP system

1.4   Negotiate favorable terms and pricing and address lead time issues with PCI suppliers


2.   Focused Interdepartmental Procurement Support (15 % of time spent)


2.1    Engineering (top priority):  Provide immediate support to select, quote, purchase, and oversee delivery of the design needs. Provide End of Life and Supplier Change Notice support to keep approved manufacturers’ part numbers correct

2.2    Quality Assurance:  Address and resolve supplier quality issues as identified and directed

2.3    Production:  Address, expedite, and coordinate changes in the schedule to support customer on time delivery commitments

2.4    Inventory:  Address inventory and receiving issues as identified to support production

2.5    Finance:  Review, solve and correct differences with invoice pricing and quantity discrepancies

2.6    Suppliers:  Act as the focal point for supplier communications with all PCI departments

2.7    All others:  Support all other departments and PCI associates as required




3.   System Support (10 % of time spent)


3.1   Maintain critical purchasing fields in the MRP/ERP system to reflect changes in lead times, approved suppliers and their approved part numbers

3.2   Provide feedback to any department to correct discovered system errors



4.  Safety Responsibilities (Select category appropriate for position)

Educational/Training/Certification Requirement:  (List the minimally required education, training, or certifications for this position)

·         High School Diploma or GED


Experience:  (List the minimally required years of experience and type of experience for this position)

·         5 years of industrial and manufacturing purchasing experience

·         Experience with MRP/ERP systems


Preferred Education and Experience: (list preferences, not requirements)

·         4 year degree in business (Accounting/Inventory/Management) or Engineering

·         CSCP, CPSM, CPP or CPIM a plus


Licenses/Certifications:  (List required licenses and certifications.  (If this is an authorized driving position, please add that a valid State Driver’s License is required).
