Your new role

Hitachi Rail Limited are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Doncaster. You will be working as a part of our service and maintenance engineering department, reporting to the Senior Maintenance Engineer
 

In this exciting new role, you will be responsible for developing and supporting the maintenance systems and processes across all Hitachi Rail fleets. This will also involve developing and continuously improving the maintenance plans across all Hitachi Rail products. This role is on a fixed term contract until the end of September 2021.


Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Developing and  continuously improve HRL  product maintenance plans throughout the life of the trains, ensuring high levels of safety, reliability and availability are met at all times
  • Developing industrial engineering processes to enable maintenance work to be carried out in an efficient manner
  • Developing Hitachi’s maintenance philosophy using condition based maintenance to assist in maintenance activities
  • Facilitating change control to implement updates to maintenance plans and documentation.

  • Supporting the continued development of the maintenance management system (MMS) to ensure it meets the needs of the maintenance plan.

  • Assisting in optimising the company’s maintenance policy and development of the best European/World Class maintenance practice in support of current and future contracts.
  • Undertaking FMECA of systems and drive the FRACAS process to yield targeted maintenance solutions
  • Liaising with Hitachi and external personnel, including suppliers, as required to undertake the duties of the post.

About you
  • Experience of delivering engineering support while working with a maintenance team in a modern rolling stock maintenance environment
  • Previous experience in defining and optimising maintenance requirements, including producing justification reports
  • Understanding of industrial engineering benefits to the maintenance process
  • Robust knowledge and experience of railway engineering standards and regulations.
  • Previous use of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and available trend analysis.
 
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualified engineer or equivalent proven railway experience
  • Previous experience of asset maintenance management systems on UK rolling stock
  • Previous experience in product improvement and reliability engineering on UK rolling stock

  • Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external)
  • Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times
  • Proven experienced team leader with strong leadership skills
  • Calm and diplomatic under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
 
Desirable

  • Intermediate > Advanced IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings
