Job description
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated ASSOCIATE GENERAL SYSTEM ENGINEER who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples.

Accountabilities
  • Analyze and understand Contractual technical requirements
  • Allocate requirements to vehicle subsystems according to Requirement Breakdown Structure (RBS)
  • Develop train electrical and functional architectures
  • Develop train performances and running simulations with Hitachi tools
  • Develop vehicle functional requirements
  • Develop vehicle systems interface and integration requirements
  • Coordinate the work streams of system and design engineers for the given project or platform
  • Support the PE and the Requirement Engineer Manager with the verification of the design according to the system requirements
  • Develop vehicle performance test specifications
  • Develop vehicle functional test specifications
  • Ensure the system integration among the equipment during design reviews
  • Support the project team during design review with customers
  • Attend to factory or on-site vehicle verification tests activities
  • Support the test team for integration tests on the vehicle
  • Review the project design according to the test results.
  • Support the project team (PM and PM) for any technical analysis during the warranty phase


Job requirements
Required Skills/ Knowledge
  • Master's degree of Science or technical degree required (electronics, electrical, system engineering or equivalent)
  • Willing to take on big challenges with large-scale railway rolling stock projects
  • Huge capability to work in teams of people with different cultures
  • Able to elaborate system architecture schemes with MS tools (i.e. Visio or equivalent)
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret electrical and system line drawing, schematics and cable plans
  • Ability to analyze and understand electrical circuits diagrams
  • Ability to analyze and understand pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams
  • Ability to interpret contract technical specification
  • Advanced ability in MS excel tool
  • Ability and knowledge in the modeling SW tool (i.e Matlab or Scilab)

Desired Skills/ Knowledge
  • Knowledge of system engineering area
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic and traction engineering
  • Knowledge of requirement engineering management basics and tools (e.g. IBM Doors).
  • Minimum 2 years in the field of system integration or complex systems testing
  • Basic working knowledge of rail vehicle subsystems such as Propulsion/Auxiliary/Control systems
  • Basic understanding of software configuration managements (CM)
  • Basic understanding of software programming logic
  • Ability to read, understand, and implement scripts written in various scripting languages (MS VBA, scilab)

Education / Qualifications
Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering Master's Degree or equivalent technical background.
