In this exciting new role you will manage RS Procurement line of business globally, leading, defining and delivering a clear procurement strategy and ensuring alignment with the group’s strategic business objectives and Group procurement functional plan.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
Lead, define and develop RS LoB procurement strategy and 3 to 5 year plan against defined KPIs, aligned with the Group’s strategic business objectives
Maintain legal compliance across the portfolio and manage contacts with audit and finance
Develop and manage deeper long term relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
Deliver all financial commitments for RS Procurement against pre-determined targets of revenue, profit and cost
Ensure procurement policy and processes are implemented and adhered to in the line of business, including monitoring of key procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with total business governance
Accountable for leading RS category strategies, ensuring they reflect project, manufacturing and in-service requirements.
Support and deliver all procurement activities for both manufacturing and service delivery
Effective deployment of project management within procurement to interface key interface with internal customers
Participate in the Group Procurement Leadership Team (GPLT), leading line of business activities laid out in the annual plan
Lead, direct, and manage a multi-disciplinary global team of professional staff responsible for RS Procurement
Coach and develop high performing teams
Champion and drive innovation and collaboration initiatives across the Hitachi Rail business and provide necessary guidance to project teams
Strategic Procurement leader with experience in running a large global team (ideally gained in an engineering or manufacturing based environment), including previous experience of managing responsible procurement processes as part of customer proposals
Significant senior purchasing experience with a proven track record of delivery against targets and costs
Evidence of successfully managing a multi-million pound function in a similar environment (Procurement/Purchasing/Supply Chain)
Proven record of managing overhead costs during all business cycles, with significant experience in preparing and managing budgets
Significant background in category management and strategic sourcing, with experience of supplier relationship management and contracts negotiations
Experience of working in a global matrixed, centrally co-ordinated procurement operating model
Excellent influencing and relationship-building skills and experience of operating as part of a global procurement leadership team
Strong verbal communication and influencing skills – articulate and comfortable communicating with staff at all levels up to and including global board members level, able to influence through competence not power/position
Significant experience of managing a team and proven track record of ability to gain specific results through people – a good coach to the team and ensuring talent is developed and recognised
Commercially-aware, with the ability to identify business needs and develop pragmatic solutions
Resilient and able to assess and manage multiple and conflicting priorities effectively
Relevant university degree or equivalent experience
Ideally member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (desirable)
