Signalling and System Innovation Unit has the scope of discovering, designing and prototyping innovative solutions that can serve our customers and stakeholders. We are looking for a Digital Innovation Engineer - Robotic and Drones expert, who can bring us a wide knowledge in program robots and robotic devices, including peripheral equipment and computer software used to control robots, trying to use them in a wide variety of tasks relating to the design, development, production, testing, operation, repair, and maintenance of railway equipment's.
Generate ideas and initiate processes of open innovation with our stakeholders leveraging on new technologies in the field of robots (including drone robots) with the main goal to facilitate the adoption of drone operations and robotics in Hitachi Rail.

Accountabilities
With regards to Digital Innovation activities / projects
  • Develop processes, methodologies and tools (HW and SW) that can ensure the use of drones and robots to alleviate the challenges of traditional asset inspections, decreasing risks to maintenance technicians
  • Develop processes, methodologies and tools (HW and SW) that can ensure the use of drones and robots to capture high resolution images and video from the assets they inspect in order to provide context and clarity regarding the assets' conditions
  • Develop processes, methodologies and tools (HW and SW) that can ensure the use of drones and robots in order to simplify the collecting, organizing, accessibility, sorting, sharing, processing and interpretation of data generating in such way benefits across maintenance stakeholders, including plant owners, maintenance and automation solution providers, maintenance engineers/technicians and field workers
  • Ensure the implementation of assigned innovation projects and the relevant end-to-end coordination, prototyping the new solutions with a network of external providers and other internal supporters, in alignment with innovation guidelines and in collaboration with other technical departments.
  • Support the intellectual property process management ensuring patent research according to the Company identified guidelines.
  • Support the Innovation Unit to build a network to grow company's future initiatives.
  • Expert in Robotics design, integration and applications (payload, sensing and control).
  • Knowledge of different branches of engineering, such as electronics and electrical, mechanical, and robotics
  • Proven experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine learning for robotics with post-data analysis experience
  • Knowledge in -software engineering -object oriented programming -analog and digital electronics -VHDL and FPGA -microprocessors, hardware and software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills


Job requirements

  • Expert in Robotics design, integration and applications (payload, sensing and control).
  • Knowledge of different branches of engineering, such as electronics and electrical, mechanical, and robotics
  • Proven experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine learning for robotics with post-data analysis experience

  • Master degree in Electrical/Automation/IT Engineering with a focus area in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • Fluency in English language (written and spoken).
Preferred Skills
  • Good knowledge of railway business environment and customers.
  • Experienced in defining requirements and architectures of complex systems.
  • Experienced in integration activities among several subsystems.
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set, team spirit and raise the bar mentality.
Education required:
Master degree in Electrical/Automation/IT Engineering with a focus area in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
