Your new role


In this exciting new role as a Project Manager you will maintain and drive the delivery of a diverse portfolio of Engineering Changes so as to optimise resources and address options, constraints, priorities and benefits. We’re looking for an experienced project or programme manager.  The portfolio is diverse and there with continual changes in priorities to address customer needs, cost and resource constraints.  As such we’re looking for someone who is resilient, who demonstrates pragmatism, negotiation skills and leadership.


Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Work with Engineering, Operations, Factory Design and Supply Chain teams to develop and manage a portfolio of changes from proposal through development, trials and industrialisation
  • Connect with Design Authorities and other relevant functions involved in the process of engineering change to understand opportunities, risk and constraints.  Prioritise the portfolio for the Service Engineering leadership team

  • Project manage the process of developing a change from approved solution through to “ready for implementation” as a portfolio, supporting business priorities, constraints and opportunities- so as to improve throughput and cost efficiencies

  • Matrix manage development and delivery resources working in different time zones and on multiple and diverse projects

  • Develop metrics to describe portfolio status, progress, risks and cost and provide governance processes for the Engineering Leadership team


About you


Essential Requirements


  • A background in project management in an industrial environment

  • Demonstrable project delivery skills

  • An effective matrix manager

  • A skilled negotiator, arbitrator and communicator

  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of an industrial environment

Desirable Requirements


  • Experience working in a rail, automotive, aerospace, industrial or regulated industry
  • Good knowledge of rail vehicle construction processes and their main systems


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A degree, HND or equivalent qualification in an Engineering related discipline

  • Professional project management accreditation
