The Role
The Director of Total Rewards is responsible for developing, implementing and administering sales and non-sales Total Rewards strategies, policies and programs focused on the Americas region and also contributes to global Total Rewards program sales and non-sales development and implementation.

The individual serves as the lead Total Rewards consultant in the Americas supporting and working closely with the Human Resources Business Partners, sales managers, and corporate function managers throughout the region. The position is part of the Total Rewards (TR) team and will work with TR members around the world in a variety of compensation areas.

The vast majority of contact with non-HR managers and employees may be through the HR Business Partners; however, this person must be able to consult to the highest level of business leadership when required. This person must be prepared to perform at a wide spectrum of skills in sales and non-sales compensation ranging from basic salary survey completion to strategic consulting for the geography Total Rewards effort.

Responsibilities
  • Partners with senior management team to develop strategic sales and non-sales compensation plans and objectives to support the business
  • Ensuring the Total Rewards strategy for the region is properly represented and programs are in place that support the overall HR strategy
  • Serves as consultant to business unit leaders/organization
  • Develop effective communication and education strategies to educate and ensure understanding of sales and non-sales compensation practices
  • Regularly interacts and influences senior leadership
  • Hands-on and works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company
  • Acts as a key advisor to management in influencing the strategic direction
  • Assumes responsibility for the successful implementation of strategic plans
  • Reviews employee data and provides analytic support and insight related to the analysis
  • Responsible for educating HR and the broader employee base on Hitachi Vantara's compensation philosophy
  • Support HR/TR Transformation by identifying and making recommendations on process improvement/simplification
  • Prepares special studies and recommendations on compensation related topics
  • Recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems
  • May review job content and job descriptions to identify consolidation opportunities
  • Reviews requests for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignment
  • Reviews proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines, policies and practices
  • Reviews existing and proposed statutory requirements governing compensation administration and recommends appropriate courses of action
  • Support merger and acquisitions activities, and major projects

Qualifications
  • 7+ years compensation experience, ideally in North America with international experience a plus
  • 3+ years designing and managing sales compensation programs
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience with global organizations in the high-tech industry is preferred
  • Experience in having ownership and implementing compensation programs including: sales compensation, executive compensation, broad based compensation, range development - benchmarking
  • Experience working with representatives from multiple functions (Sales/HR/Finance/IT, etc..) as well as senior/executive management
  • Experience working in Finance function is a plus
  • Comfortable dealing with financial aspects of compensation including cost-modeling, budget allocation, accruals, etc
  • Advanced Excel skills: Comfortable working with large data sets and standardizing/merging/organizing data from different sources
  • Extensive experience in performing complex excel functions including lookups, pivots, macros, etc.. Ability to transform data into presentable chart/graph/tables, etc
  • Ability to lead teams of at least 3+-nbsp;and improve performance by establishing new business practices and procedures
  • Possess deep subject matter expertise on market trends and factors affecting attraction and retention of talents
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to different personality styles and unique needs of different functions
  • Strong presentation skills and proven Project Management skills
  • Experience with Xactly Compensation system is a plus
  • Experience with Workday a plus
  • Experience with BI a plus
