We are currently seeking a candidate for a Staff Engineer to work Day shift Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in our Steering Engineering Department. You offer us your determination and work-ethic; we offer you very competitive pay and top-notch health benefits. 

 

The Staff Engineer is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating technical activities of the Production Engineering department with all other departments and functions as well as ensuring compliance of company policies and TS16949 policies and procedures.   

 

 

Chief Duties and/or Responsibilities:

 

  1. Participates in the development of methods, tooling, labor and set up estimates for new products and engineering changes for existing products.

  2. Assures that new equipment and tooling specifications, design, construction, and debugging are consistent with needs, commercial specifications, cost justifications, and time constraints.

  3. Assures that modifications of existing equipment, tooling, and manufacturing procedures are being satisfactorily performed and meet quality and capacity requirements.

  4. Recommends replacement of existing equipment and provides long-term facility planning assistance.

  5. Provides and implements engineering solutions to achieve the quality and production availability targets of the plant as it relates to production machinery, tooling and manufacturing processes.

  6. Meets with Product Engineering groups and negotiate existing and new product design changes and project timetables, which will enable quality manufacturing at the lowest cost.

  7. Directs process control programs with plant, manufacturing, engineering, and vendors to ensure products can be economically maintained and to ensure product final acceptance to the customer.

  8. Supports Production and Maintenance departments as needed to prevent missed shipments and quality defects to customers.

 

Qualifications

Qualified Applicants will possess the following:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Technology discipline.  At least five years (ten years or more preferred) of experience as a Manufacturing or Production Engineer (preferably in automotive manufacturing).

  2. Strong experience in automation and control engineering activities (PLC programming, equipment reliability improvements, process control improvements, defect prevention, etc.).

  3. Experience with process preparation for new product launches (APQP desired)

  4. Effective communication skills, both oral and written to Associates of all levels.

  5. Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing process costs.

  6. Familiar with maintenance work and plant engineering.

  7. Familiar with process capability (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk), root cause analysis and quality tools for process improvement.

  8. Familiar with TS16949, ISO14000, and OSHA regulations.

  9. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Some 2D and 3D CAD

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports managing Production Engineering Associates, including hiring, training, and assigning/prioritizing activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Required to sit or stand and move about the facility.  Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Combination of office and plant environment.  May be required to use safety glasses, ear protection and wear steel toe shoes while performing specific tasks or while in manufacturing areas.
