Your new role
Base Location: UK or Italy
In this exciting new role you will operate as part of the global Governance and Analysis team, which facilitates and supports the planning, execution and improvement of Procurement activities across all Lines of Business (LOB) and Group Procurement teams.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
Develop and maintain excellent professional relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders including LOB and Group Procurement teams, Internal Audit, Corporate Procurement, SHEQ, HR, Suppliers, Consultants etc.
Develop and maintain a team and/or a network to support the definition of policy and process, audit and risk management processes and people development frameworks for LOB and Group Procurement
Define and maintain group Procurement policies, standards, processes and procedures within the Hitachi GBMS framework to ensure compliance with internal (e.g. Hitachi Corporate, Hitachi Rail etc.) and external requirements as applicable
As “Process Owner” for Procurement, collaborate with LOB and Group Procurement teams to assess current practices and develop phased plan to define global processes and standards for Category Management, Sourcing and Contracting, Supplier Qualification and Management, and Purchase to Pay
Define and maintain a global risk management process for Procurement to identify, report and mitigate supply chain related risks for the Procurement function
Co-ordinate and support Audit, Risk and Compliance activities and plans for the Procurement function
Support the definition of Procurement roles, skills and competencies, learning and development and career development frameworks to improve the capability and opportunities for growth for people in the Procurement function, in collaboration with HR
Lead and coordinate the development of group content for the Hitachi Rail External Website and COSMO for Procurement, in collaboration with Communication departments
Coordinate the development of Procurement’s Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda and plans and facilitate networking to collaborate and integrate with Hitachi Corporate and relevant eternal activities
Lead Group Procurement initiatives (as assigned) to support LOB and Group Procurement priorities and plans
Contribute to the assessment of Group-level opportunities for Procurement & Supply Chain optimisation
Manage the performance of direct reports (if applicable) conducting regular 1:1 meetings, coaching and mentoring personal development, and provide constructive feedback through appraisals.
Experienced procurement practitioner with the knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing, supplier and contract lifecycle management processes in a global business environment
Experience of global Procurement Process Management including the design, documentation and management of policies, processes and procedures
Experience of the definition of procurement roles, skills and competencies, learning and development programmes, career pathways etc.
Experience of audit, risk and compliance management
Experience with managing suppliers and consultants
Experience of leading and developing cross-functional project teams.
Strong analytical skills and action focussed to capitalise on identified opportunities
Strong commercial acumen and data presentation skills with an ability to influence and persuade stakeholders
Excellent knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft office packages
Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), or Institute of Supply Management (CPSM, or CPM) or another appropriate professional institute or relevant experience.
