The primary responsibility of the Director, DCA includes providing overall leadership to the Design and Development Center as well as having budgetary responsibilities. All functions are expected to be performed in a team-oriented fashion.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities


  • Provide overall direction to DCA
  • Establish DCA initiatives
  • Set policies for DCA
  • Work closely with HHA through HHA Liaison
  • Establishes DCA budget in conjunction with HHBU
  • Manage DCA projects and provide project updates to HHBU
  • Review HHA finance feedback
  • Provide adequate training for staff
  • Generate written reports for HHBU on DCA activities
  • Ensure that all development work is done in accordance with FDA Design Controls
  • Write and conduct performance appraisals for direct reports
  • Provide guidance to direct reports
  • Recommend promotions for DCA staff
  • Keep up-to-date on executive leadership ideas
  • Obtain needed leadership, management, and technical training as required
  • Keep HHBU aware of possible ideas for patent opportunities
  • Encourage staff to continually look for ideas related to their work which could be patent opportunities
  • Contribute to new product development by finding appropriate consultants, contacting appropriate vendors, and having DCA perform assigned tasks





  • Minimum B.S. in engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 15 years of management experience in MRI product development
  • 5-10 years of experience in engineering management
