Data Scientists are responsible for the development and maintenance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) software and systems for Hitachi High-Tech America, Inc. (HTA) products.

  • Hands-on development and write algorithms in machine learning, statistical modelling, neural nets, and pattern recognition from data exploration
  • Hands on experience in Python and other related programming technologies including major data science packages
  • Analyze data collection results, perform model based designing and building
  • Interacts with different groups of service engineers on the ground to understand the pain points, data collection and to develop products related to Machine Learning
  • Perform testing with TB to PB data set size
  • Researching and resolving complex software and system problems
  • Designing and simplifying user interfaces and documenting them
  • Creating architectures and complex designs independently and documenting them
  • Integrate and test software to confirm compliance with specifications
  • Developing functional specifications
  • Finding and fixing complex errors in the software
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews of peers and test reviews
  • Performing functional tests


  • Master of Science degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or similar quantitative field
  • Certified in Python or other related programming languages


  • Must have at least 5+ years of practical experience in writing algorithms in Machine Learning, Statistical Modelling, Neural Nets, and Pattern Recognition from data exploration
  • Must have 5+ years of hands on programming experience in Python including major data science packages such as Pandas, Numpy, SKlearn, Tensorflow, Keras, Matplotlib, R and related technologies
  • Experience with system performance evaluation
  • Experience working and using MATLAB
  • Experience using a central software repository system where source can be stored for effectively working with distributed team in different geographical locations
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate challenging or technical concepts
  • Full software development lifecycle experience, must be comfortable working using Agile as well as iterative methodologies
  • Experience with Test-driven development using tools to spot performance issues and memory leaks
  • This position requires international travel for business purposes – up to 5%
