The Software Engineer position is located in Hillsboro, OR and will support the business objectives of HTA’s Semiconductor Equipment Division (SED). This position’s main objective is to provide software engineering support including development and maintenance of Hitachi software to the Portland Technical Innovation (PTI) group and other groups as needed and applicable.
This position will be required to work at the Hitachi High Tech America office in Hillsboro, OR and also at the applicable customer site in Hillsboro, OR.
Domestic and International travel will be required as this position may be required to attend training and also travel to Japan for up to a year on assignment if necessary.
•Implementing hands-on dry etch equipment software development. Frequent use of prototype system sub-components which require performance of beta software check, operation verification and authorizing of operation and safety procedures.
•Will work under limited supervision and must be able to independently complete routine software development tasks after receiving request of specification.
•Define, analyze, and review software requirements;
• Participate in definition, design, and review of design, application frameworks, and interfaces;
•Hands-on development, documentation and testing of distributed applications;
•Integrate and test software to confirm compliance with specifications;
•Participate in design reviews, code reviews and test reviews;
•Write product documentation as necessary;
•Perform white-box and black-box testing of the software;
•Software development for Dry etch equipment, equipment support function;
•Installing dry etch equipment software;
•Interface with the Kasado factory in Japan
•Will also interface with customers and suppliers regarding software of equipment, new software evaluations, usage of software and troubleshooting of software issues.
EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field required
EXPERIENCE AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
•0 - 2 years of software development experience;
•Previous experience building large highly-scaled complex N-Tier/SOA web-based business applications with a focus on server side technologies preferred.
•Occasional Travel as needed (approx. 20% of the time). This position will require more travel for initial training and assimilation to the position and company equipment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
•Ability to build large highly-scaled complex N-Tier/SOA web-based business applications with a focus on server side technologies.
•Will need to be proficient in ability to read and create documents such as procedures, tool schematics, etc.
•Will require the ability to prioritize, transition and multi-task effectively on projects, assignments and support activities based on business demand
•Professional hands-on experience with designing and developing applications using Java, Web-Services, and various databases in a highly scaled web environment;
•Strong Java skills with a deep understanding of object-oriented analysis and design, including design patterns. 3-4 years of experience in C++ is strongly preferred;
•Experience with open source framework/libraries/concepts/tools such as JMS (Sun MQ), Cobertura, Ant, Maven, PostgreSQL, Glassfish is required;
•Effective oral and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate challenging or technical concepts;
•Full software development lifecycle experience, must be comfortable working using Agile as well as iterative methodologies;
•Experience with Test-driven development using tools like JUnit and Selenium as well as JMeter, and JProfile to spot performance issues and memory leaks;
