Your new role
In this exciting new role you will support the development of existing projects and support future projects!
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
Support the development of Systems on Hitachi’s range of metro, commuter and high speed trains. Working closely with Hitachi Kasado, Mito and HRI Engineers to support the development of train concepts and sub-system supply.
Develop solutions, which demonstrate design for manufacture and design for service principles.
Calculate performance and journey time simulation
Support design interfaces, working with other design partners and colleagues, to deliver effective solutions, which achieve an effectively integrated product.
Make proposal to the factory to improve reliability of current design
Working closely with the test and commissioning teams, supporting the approvals process
Where required, supporting the design process/supplier selection
Supplier management including fault investigation process
Act as the interface between the European supplier and the manufacturing plants. Some travel in Europe and to Japan is expected.
Support the test team during dynamic commissioning stage. Riding on test train is required, where necessary.
Knowledge of power electronics is preferable in order to manage the development of high power system such traction box and main transformer.
Participate in customer facing design reviews, provide bid support and management for new products and technical support for contract reviews.
Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel
Good English language skills and the ability to communicate effectively
Commitment to working as part of a team
Experience in journey time and energy consumption simulation
Knowledge of Rolling Stock Approvals (RGS Standards, TSIs, etc)
Knowledge of Train configuration, train performance, and high power electric circuit
HND or equivalent qualified engineer.
