Your new role

In this exciting new role you will be supporting End Users across the business and mentoring EUC Engineers in the team!

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Mentoring of EUC Support Engineers

  • Analyse call statistics and SLA to ensure a good service is being provided.

  • Mentoring and coaching of team members on day-to-day activities.

  • Provide 2nd & 3rd line desktop computing support and problem management in a technical and organisationally complex environment.

  • Act as the point of escalation for complex IT support queries.

  • Evaluate business requests and approve / reject as appropriate.

  • Administration of Authentication / Access Control systems (Active Directory, MDM).

  • Lead and take part in desktop and infrastructure projects and service improvement activities across HRL, providing supporting administration and documentation.

  • Work with external service and support providers as required.

  • Travel to other Hitachi locations in the UK when required.

About you 
  • Fluent written and spoken English. Strong Interpersonal skills, ability to communicate to business managers.

  • Good previous experience of providing 2nd line EUC/desktop systems support for a multi-site organisation (500< persons).

  • Wintel Hardware - PC Management/build automation Windows 10 – Advanced knowledge

  • Microsoft Office – In depth Knowledge.

  • Solid understanding and experience of administering the following:

    • Microsoft Back Office Systems (Active Directory / Exchange / SCCM) o Mobile Device Management (MobileIron) o Remote Access systems

    • Networking – DNS, DHCP, File sharing, Printing, LAN/WLAN o Voice Systems

    • AV – end point protection – managing vulnerabilities (McAfee)

  • High degree of competency in problem assessment and solving within an ITIL Support Service framework.
  • Extensive practical experience in supporting a complex environment of desktops and business applications.
  • Basic understanding of project management practices.


  • ITIL or equivalent experience
