Your new role

In this exciting role you will
  • Ensure all Suppliers conform to their Control Plans reviewing processes and suggest areas for improvements whilst ensuring all suppliers and the materials they provide are in compliance with engineering and manufacturing specifications and company and government standards;
  • Communicate between Suppliers and HRL Senior Quality Management serving as liaisons between HRL and vendors.
  • Provide technical guidance and advice to HRL Procurements and Vendors;
  • Conduct process\product quality audits at supplier site to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with company standards;
  • Identify Supplier Quality issues, investigate and drive quick resolutions;
  • Support Procurement team and Central SQA in the OS&M sourcing process with: initial risk assessments, supplier selection and approval processes based on complexity of the parts that need to be sourced.
  • Actively prepare the suppliers within Gate review processes for the successful and timely FAI and tracking outstanding actions until successful completion of shipments.
  • Participate in supplier assessment and rating processes;
  • Track Supplier Corrective Action Reports and generate statistical situation based on it;
  • Report the status of quarantine and blocked stock to the supplier, if required.
  • Collaborate with Hitachi factories and Service Deliveries in QRQC/other investigation processes relating ambiguous non-conform products.
  • Report on periodic bases supplier KPIs
  • Participate in Kaizen and Six Sigma processes, if required.
  • Support internal quality and production in tasks and meetings.
  • To be aware of and actively promote and implement Hitachi’s ethos, culture and values.
  • To be involved in Hitachi Rail Europe’s staff development and training and participate in PDP procedures.
  • To adhere to the Hitachi Rail Europe’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • To comply with and implement Hitachi Rail Europe’s Health and Safety policy.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required

About you


Key Skills & Experience


Essential Requirements


Applicants should be able to demonstrate all of the Essential Requirements listed below

  • Experience of working in a Supplier Quality role - railway would be advantage but not essential.
  • Extensive experience  of working in manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of SQA/SQC processes;
  • Having working knowledge on Quality and CI tools such as: APQP; Kaizen; SixSigma.
  • Full UK/European driving license;
  • Ability to work to technical drawings and specifications.
  • Able to travel worldwide and performing independent activities at suppliers;  
  • Able to work and to manage supplier related activities alone;
  • Very good analytical skills;
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Computer literacy: SAP; MS Office; etc.
  • Another European language would be an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Commitment to working as part of a team
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment
  • Lead auditor qualification and experience (IRCA certified desirable)
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
