Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Associate HSE specialist who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pistoia, Italy

  • support the elaboration of the Risk Assessments and the implementation of the HSE improvement plans and, to the extent of its competence, of the measures aimed at preventing the occurrence of dangerous situations and / or protecting workers from the risk of injury and protecting their health in alignment with the RSBU guidelines and procedures;
  • support the development and implementation of HSE procedures and update emergency plans and organize periodic evacuation and fire tests;
  • supporting investigations into HSE and near miss accidents, and their root causes, to propose appropriate redemption activities for the plant of reference;
  • support the request for periodic measurements of physical and chemical agents in the workplace and follow their execution, in order to inform the Employer of the relative results and carrying out the preventive assessment of the risks of new products, processes and equipment in compliance with business procedures;
  • prepare the assessment of chemical products by interfacing with the bodies concerned, in particular, with the Planning function on Life Cycle Assessment issues;
  • support to the effectiveness of communication between the heads of the functions and / or other personnel in charge and the Employer for matters relating to safety and the environment;
  • supporting Audits to verify compliance with safety and environmental regulations for the plant of reference;
  • contribute to waste management in compliance with current legislation and applicable company procedures;
  • support as point of reference on specific areas of knowledge the resources with less experience in identifying and solving problems and in declining solutions for the professional aspects dealt with;
  • prepare periodic reports on the progress, standards and information, also in support of the Rolling Stock Italy Coordinator, on the management of safety and the environment and on the achievement of the specific objectives assigned;
  • contribute to timely internal communication to the departments concerned, helping to manage critical relationships with INAIL, ASL and with the bodies responsible for the surveillance and control of safety and environmental conditions, with particular regard to the policies, guidelines and regulations in force in matter and in alignment with the RSBU guidelines and procedures;
  • prepare the analysis and preparation of responses to requests regarding health and safety at work and environmental protection, in particular those from the Supervisory and Control Authorities;
  • contribute to the control of the health and safety aspects of the work of external companies operating within the plant of reference;
  • Support the HSE manager in consulting the Workers' Safety Representatives RLS
  • support the planning and provision of training on workplace safety and the environment, in support of the Employer within the plant of reference;
  • contribute to the collaboration with the Competent Doctor for the identification of risks in the workplace for the purpose of planning health surveillance for the plant of reference;
  • contribute to the communication flow to all relevant RSBU units on all related to health, safety and environmental matters
  • Interpretation of HSE technical documentation
  • follows the administrative activities of accidents and occupational diseases, interfacing with the competent external bodies for the plant of reference and in alignment with the RSBU guidelines and procedures
  • manages the HSE document archives for the plant of reference in alignment with the RSBU guidelines and procedures
  • verifies of HSE law requirements, including those applicable to suppliers working inside production lines for the plant of reference and in alignment with the RSBU guidelines and procedures
  • oversees internal communication activities relating to Safety and the Environment for the plant of reference
  • participates in periodic department meetings
  • collaborates in the management Plant's Infirmary, according to the applicable company procedures
  • support the definition of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the plant of reference

Job requirements

  • Legislation, regulations, technical regulations on hygiene, health (occupational medicine) and occupational safety
  • Legislation, regulations, technical regulations on the environment
  • HSE product and project plans
  • Monitoring and reporting systems and techniques, KPIs and HSE benchmarking
  • Training / information interventions and HSE communication tools and techniques
  • Fundamentals of physical, chemical, biological safety, statistical and IT sciences in order to recognize and evaluate the extent of environmental and occupational risk factors for human health;
  • Fundamentals of Hygienic, structural and plant engineering requirements of industrial activities;
  • Methodologies and techniques of disease prevention and health promotion;
  • Auditing techniques
  • Production cycles
  • Safety Data Sheets of chemicals
  • Manufacturing techniques and tools
  • Basic planning methodologies and techniques (MS project)
  • Methods and techniques for continuous improvement (es. six sigma)
  • Environmental and Safety Management systems: ISO 14001, 45001
  • Use of SAP and other reference applications in the HSE area
  • Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Power Point
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar (no. Management Eng., IT Eng., Aerospace Eng. and similar) with experiences in HSE
