Your new role

In this exciting role you will be responsible to the Head of Operations Compliance, Standards and Training ensuring UK OS&M is compliant with Corporate, ECM/Rail and Training Standards through robust procedures and processes.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Set standards and provide systems of governance for asset maintenance activities against the planned requirements, ensuring demonstrable maintenance integrity;
  • Identify and lead Standards change, supported by relevant business partners, to deliver an asset planning foundation which will effectively maintain and control the procedure in delivering compliance;
  • Identify all applicable engineering and training standards and procedures/processes that apply to HRL fleets working closely with key stakeholders to assure ourselves that we are compliant;
  • Drive compliance with Corporate Standards;
  • Provide the analysis, delivery and management of supporting TNAs for both technical, operational and leadership competencies ensuring that they comply with regulated authorities and match the needs of the business;
  • Ensure control measures are in place negating the need for the continual re-write of procedures and processes;
  • Look to the industry for standards best practice and development in the future market place to identify applicable emerging standards and industry best practice that impact Engineering Safety, Assurance, Maintenance Integrity and Asset Planning;
  • Drive the adoption of standard tools and processes across HRL ensuring Supplier Quality Control is embedded in the wider Quality organisation;
  • Provide KPIs relating to Standards informing the senior team of any gaps and risks and issues;

Liaise with Global L&D ensuring support to the global programmes and support ongoing bid programmes and  Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for all standard maintenance and associated activities to ensure the individual and the team match the wider business requirements.

It is our expectation that successful applicants should be able to demonstrate the experience and skills listed below:

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience of implementing ECM, Rail and Training Standards and control measures at a strategic and national level.
  • Strategic compliance and assurance experience especially in a regulated industry.
  • Thorough understanding of BS ISO 9001, 55001 and IRIS/RISAS requirements.
  • Knowledge of Railway group standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of the internal controls required for Integrated Management Systems operational experience in its practice.
  • Position holder must be able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
  • The ability to articulate how management systems are implemented and managed.
  • Commitment to work in collaboration with the Quality department as well as all departments.
  • The ability to influence colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer (preferred) or Incorporated Engineer
  • Lead auditor qualification and experience (IRCA certified desirable)
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering degree or BTEC/HNC (desirable)
