The Opportunity

Due to a recent vacant position within the region, our Tasmanian division has an exciting opportunity for a trade qualified Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic / HD Fitter to join our team. In this role, your key focus will be to provide preventative and breakdown maintenance on a wide range of Hitachi Construction equipment. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing onsite repairs on a wide range of equipment. (both Hitachi and other branded equipment)
  • Attending to site breakdowns within Hobart and surrounding areas
  • Undertaking diagnostic work
  • Liaising with a network of customers within the territory, whilst building strong relationships.
  • You will be an integral position / technical resource in our maintenance and repair contracts with local clientele
  • Working with internal technical support staff to achieve successful maintenance outcomes

Working primarily a Monday to Friday roster, this permanent role will allow you to access OEM training while you build a long-term career in a global company.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Ensure the HCA Safety Culture is embraced, displayed and driven from within - safety takes priority over everything else
  • Hold relevant Australian (or Australian recognised) mobile plant trade qualifications
  • Hold relevant Australian drivers licence. (forklift & work at heights tickets would be advantageous)
  • Have experience, knowledge and understanding of civil and construction equipment
  • Have a strong work ethic and a proven ability to work autonomously within remote areas
  • Have good communication and customer service skills with the ability to build long term relationships
  • Have great technical knowledge and diagnostic ability (excellent technical knowledge of Hitachi civil and construction equipment would be highly advantageous)
  • Proven ability and competency in making decisions to support customers and the business
  • Have opportunity for, and must be willing to work overtime at short notice
  • Have exceptional time management skills. Proven ability to plan/schedule work up to a fortnight in advance.
