The Role

Hitachi Vantara is seeking a Systems Engineer - Disaster Recovery that can review our existing plans, help analyze the overall DR/BCP approach and drive a series of our plans to closure. This position is responsible for the hands on management of the Business Resiliency program and requires a proven subject matter expert with demonstrated competency in the planning, development, program execution, maintenance and testing of Enterprise Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Crisis/Incident Management programs. This role will require strong understanding of Windows or Linux fundamentals and concepts, in addition to technical experience with IT concepts, infrastructure - data center technologies.

Working in a 24x7 global operations team environment, the Systems Engineer - Disaster Recovery will require extensive infrastructure experience and deep technical expertise in BCP - DR (in terms of testing the technology recovery etc). The DR Manager will work on the Architecture, Engineering, Development / Operations teams to establish standards, best practices of DR solutions

  • Responsible for hands on management of the Business Resiliency program
  • Subject matter expert responsible for planning, development, program execution, maintenance and testing of Enterprise Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Crisis/Incident Management programs
  • Additional responsibilities include risk, controls and compliance management, supporting BC/DR audit and examination activities, and development - maintenance of policies, standards - procedures that are aligned with the best practices (NIST, FFIEC BCP handbook)
  • Familiarity with fundamental IT concepts, infrastructure - data center technologies
  • This position will require communication and coordination across the organization - the Business Continuity - Disaster Recovery Manager must demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to conduct a quarterly DR exercise within the specified RTO and RPO values and perform a yearly end to end DR exercise and provide reports on the status completion

  • Minimum of a B.S. in Computer Science, MIS or related degree and relevant experience or combination of education, experience and training
  • Excellent communication and verbal skills as well as business acumen and fluency in English
  • 6+ years on managing and maintaining Enterprise DR solutions
  • Experience in Linux or Windows engineering and design capacities
  • Deep understanding of Linux or Windows fundamentals and concepts
  • Hands on experience with Microsoft Windows administration and troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of Zerto is an added plus
  • Preparing root cause analysis - problem management
  • Perform critical systems testing and operational tasks
  • Working knowledge of and experience with Agile and ITIL
  • Able to coordinate with different technical teams from within organization of remote teams if required for finding a solution
  • Familiar with Change Management process, able to prepare action plan, rollback plan, mitigation plan etc. and review pre and post change activities
  • Able to document all actions in accordance with standard company operational policies and procedures
  • Experience notifying customers and third-party service providers of issues, outages and remediation status
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
