Hitachi Vantara is looking for an experienced and proven Public Relations Manager to lead PR programming across the APAC region and liaise with regional Customer Advocacy and Social Media programs. As the lone PR practitioner supporting the APAC business, this person is a seasoned and agile PR pro with proven experience delivering results across a large and diverse region while providing strategic executive and stakeholder counsel with diplomacy and finesse. This person is also a natural storyteller who can shape corporate messaging into narratives that fit for particular markets.
The successful candidate understands our changing industry, maintains critical media relationships and can manage programs across two distinct business units with deep product and solutions portfolios to create compelling storylines that are relevant across different media audiences. S/he is a strong writer and communicator who loves to roll up their sleeves, working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and managing PR agency partners to deliver top results.
This position reports to the Director of Global Public Relations and sits within the company's Global Communications and Worldwide Marketing organizations. The position is currently based at Hitachi Vantara's APAC headquarters in Hong Kong, but location is flexible for the right candidate to be based in the company's other APAC offices.
*Be the go-to PR professional for the APAC region, collaborating with executives and marketing leadership on regional and in-country PR programs that support the business locally while aligning to corporate strategy
*Collaborate with regional marketing leadership to develop PR plans that support local initiatives and business priorities
*Provide counsel to executives, spokespeople and communications management on how to message and position the business and its products and solutions, particularly in instances where corporate messaging needs refinement for certain media audiences
*Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with top-tier regional media
*Work closely with U.S. PR team to understand upcoming global launches and announcements, and proactively plan APAC execution with regional marketing and agency partners
*Develop thoughtful and interesting content for communications opportunities including press releases, blogs, bylined articles, messaging documents, FAQs, press presentations, and speaking opportunity abstracts and presentations
* Liaise with U.S. Customer Advocacy and Social Media leadership to secure regional customer references and manage social channels
*Drive approvals for all regional communications materials including press releases, media alerts, blogs and bylined articles
*Manage regional PR budgets and operations
*Minimum of 8 years' experience managing public relations programs for the APAC region; in-house and/or public relations agency experience required
*Experience in large, global B2B technology, software, services companies a plus
*Expert knowledge of the diverse APAC media landscape and established relationships with top regional journalists and publications
*High comfort level providing strategic counsel to regional leadership in ambiguous and/or sensitive situations
*A content master - strong writer and storyteller that can draft compelling messaging for use in press releases, messaging documents, press presentations, bylines, blogs and FAQs
*Experience working with distributed global PR and agency partners to ensure consistency and alignment of messaging and campaigns
*Demonstrated ability to create high-quality work, calmly and with good judgment in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
*Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience; MBA or advanced degree a plus
