The Role
At Hitachi Vantara we are changing the way Smart Spaces and Transportation organizations improve their operations with the power of Video Intelligence.

We have a long history leading with a comprehensive suite of video analytics products and solutions. We are now expanding this suite to address specific everyday problems in the Transportation industry around transportation assets (Trains, Fleets, etc).

Hitachi Vantara is looking for a seasoned Software Product Manager with knowledge of Video Intelligence technologies and Smart Spaces/Vehicles (Transportation) vertical expertise. The candidate should have a strong technology aptitude and deep product leadership experience to lead innovation in the Transportation industry at a time of significant industry change. The role will require strong insight into the core business challenges faced by customers, be responsible of translating challenges into use cases for video, work with product R-D and lead introduction of products into the market. The product manager will be accountable for the success of video products in the market and will evangelize voice of customer to align cross organizational teams. Hitachi Vantara is the digital innovation and digital transformation arm of Hitachi. This role requires close collaboration with many of our 800+ sister companies at Hitachi to build on the vision of One Hitachi.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and use-cases in relevant areas to be solved by video insights
  • Leverage market research and an understanding of the competitive landscape to create a compelling value proposition and differentiated product roadmap
  • Develop and deliver presentations and demonstrations for internal and external audiences
  • Develop a feature from ideation through to launch and rollout including interactions with marketing, pre-sales and sales
  • Partner with product development organization to prioritize use cases and track to completion
  • Support sales with competitive and strategic analysis including product training
  • Enable customer support to analyze, synthesize and prioritize incoming requests, managing customer escalations and engaging customer success managers (CSMs) as required
  • Work with customers, the field, partners and analysts to understand product strengths and weaknesses
  • Convey the "voice of customer" to Product Owners and Product Design


Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree with a technology, engineering, or transportation alignment or at least 10 years of relevant experience is required
  • At least 7 years of Product Management experience in software company and preferably at startup organizations where full accountability and ownership of a product was in scope
  • Past experience in the B2B, Industrial or Enterprise software industry with focus on product management/strategy preferred
  • Experience working with video technology, CCTV, Lidar, or security
  • Demonstrative expertise in delivering outcome focused solutions with a deep understanding of transportation customer operational challenges.
  • Experience with Industrial IoT platforms and solutions to improve operational excellence for industrial customers is a plus
  • Experience managing broad stakeholder groups (business and technology) with the ability to converse and build relationships at a senior level
  • Strong analytical and design skills with proficiency in envisioning and articulating customer journeys and experience for IoT value propositions
  • Entrepreneurial drive with a can-do attitude, a strong desire to learn and shape own career path
  • The ability to succeed in a start-up kind of environment where client and project direction is not always well defined
  • Comfortable working as part of a diverse and geographically distributed team
