The Role

The Hitachi Vantara distribution center, also known as the International Supply Chain Center (ISCC), in Norman, Oklahoma has an immediate opening for a Global Transportation Manager. In this role you will manage the company's traffic function to increase customer experience. The Global Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing all functions of the Domestic and International Logistics team. This includes the traffic and transportation of products, spare parts and reverse logistics, with the objective that all products be delivered on time, to the proper destination, in the quantity ordered, and with the agreed upon quality standards to be consistent with the expectations of the company and customers.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for cost effective movement of products both in-bound and out-bound
  • Direct the activities of staff members responsible for contacting vendors, customers, and carriers to resolve shipping issues
  • Develop methods and procedures for transporting product from suppliers to warehouses and/or customers
  • Establish policies and systems to monitor transportation costs and efficiencies
  • Evaluate transportation and freight costs, appropriate routing, and carriers to determine transportation to be used, improving customer experience
  • Coordinate with carriers/freight companies to ensure proper handling
  • Manage Air Freight, Parcel and Domestic Transportation
  • Responsible for managing all inbound shipments, including working with carriers to ensure excellent delivery performance
  • Create processes and find opportunities to reduce spend while maintaining quality and on time delivery
  • Responsible for freight invoicing to appropriate account codes
  • Responsible for reporting and analysis of spend and trends by cost per unit for freight, duty, and cargo management fees
  • Responsible for logistics budget center; maintaining cost analysis reports
  • Measure and publish key performance indicators for air, parcel and ground delivery and spend
  • Communicate directly with ocean carriers on space issues and equipment issues as the need arises
  • Plan, prepare and complete periodical RFP's
  • Evaluate existing capabilities and establish new systems and processes for the tracking, measurement, reporting, and analysis of all traffic
  • Monitor and communicate carrier's performance, capacity, tender acceptance ratio and other metrics
  • Work with carriers, customs broker, 3PL's on traffic flow/management issues
  • Create and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Initiate and maintain effective and professional relationships with existing and new carriers
  • Audit and review import declarations
  • Provide direction on customs compliance to the ISCC traffic depart
  • Audit export filings and traffic processes related to exports
  • Work with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure compliance with procedures and best practices


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of import/export experience
  • Preferred experience in high tech industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a leadership role in Traffic Management, International Logistics and/or a customs brokers environment
  • Experience with international government compliances like CT-PAT and AEO
  • Certification in transportation of Dangerous Goods would be a plus
  • Able to work in a cross functional team
  • Experience in conflict resolution
  • Must have experience working with international vendors
  • Must be able to evaluate vendors as part of the process to qualify vendors as an approved source for use in production
  • Must be able to negotiate in a win/win situation
  • Ability to classify products in HTSUS, Schedule B
  • In-depth knowledge of import/export regulations and programs
  • Must have strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have strong business acumen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Must be self-motivated and results oriented
  • Some domestic and international travel will be required
