Your new role

In this exciting role you will :

  • Maintain the condition of the work environment
  • Adhere to health, safety, environmental & quality practices in the workplace
  • Ensure effective and efficient reporting and communication to limit unit delay time
  • Confirm that traction and rolling stock assets comply with operational specifications and are fit to run and apply and  communicate restrictions as required
  • Identify, assess and offer operational & technical guidance to operators staff to rectify in service defects on the class 395 fleet, whilst observing all relevant rail regulations and requirements, including the DOTEL
  • Keep the support log up to date with clear and concise information
  • Control class 395 unit mileage across the fleet to meet with overhaul and other mileage based planned maintenance periodicities
  • Keep all aspects of Genius up to date
  • Monitor TRUST for delays and liaise with the delay manager
  • Monitor CCIL for reported or unreported defect information
  • Manage and lead with all in service incidents
  • Monitor the WON and Southeastern quarterly plan for engineering works affecting class 395 operations
  • Create and communicate all defect and end of shift/day logs
  • Raise work reports on Equinox for reported defects and update as required
  • Carry out class 395 fleet planning, creating disposition statement and allocation sheets
  • Extract information from the ACWN and unit diagrams
  • Responsible for ensuring that class 395 units return to depot as planned for maintenance and repairs
  • Arrange test runs as required
  • Develop professionally and support good working relationships both internally and externally
  • Learn new skills in accordance with Hitachi’s new business demands as required
  • Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel as required to complete the duties of the post
  • Assist the Operations Planning Manager as required

About you

Essential

Licences / Competences

•          Sound general railway operational knowledge (EG signalling, power supply, geography)

•          Technical Understanding of Traction and Rolling Stock (preferably class 395)

Qualifications

•          M & E ONC or served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines

•          Engineering based NVQ level 3

Behavioural

•          Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations

•          Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•          Represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times

•          Remain calm under pressure

•          Self-motivated with the ability to work alone or within a team

Desirable

Licences / Competences

•          Interrogate available train data to identify unit & fleet issues using Virdict/Trainlink as available

•          Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Outlook,

•          Equinox, Genius, Trust, CCIL, P2, DOTEL
