Your new role

We are currently recruiting for a Project Financial Controller to join the team in London. In this exciting role you will be the principal support to project teams for all financial aspects of the project. Ensuring all aspects of project P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow are correctly accounted for and forecasts are up-to-date. While also supporting new bidding activity when required.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Principal support to Project teams for all financial aspects of the project
  • Management of Project EACs. Ensuring all changes are correctly recorded and evidenced, and there is a reconciliation back to the original As Sold position
  • Management of project cash forecasting. Ensuring cash-in forecast is aligned to the project delivery programme, and cash-out is logical
  • Ensure the Balance Sheet of projects is accurate, by reviewing working capital movements each month
  • Maintain monthly forecast files for projects, that consider: the project delivery programme, the actual position and a forecast of costs to complete the EAC
  • Reporting, analysing and challenging all project costs. Holding monthly financial reviews with each function within projects, holding them to account on spend against budget and changes to EAC
  • Prepare monthly project finance reports proving monthly and in-year financial status of the project, covering: P&L, Balance Sheet, cash flow, headcount and KPIs
  • Production of accurate and on time budgets and forecasts for projects
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports on actual performance against budgets and forecast, providing in depth variance analysis
  • Provide timely information required by FP&A department, for production of monthly management accounts and any ad-hoc requests
  • Manage the process for forecasting and reporting of Liquidated Damages
  • Support the process for costing variation orders through to customer submission. Ensure all costs are backed up by quotes or detailed calculations. Prepare benchmark analysis of costs against actuals where possible
  • Work with the Risk team to identify and quantify areas of risk and opportunity, and assist with managing these areas
  • Manage sales invoices, milestone payments and related matters. Working closely with other finance teams
  • Oversee the production of budgets and monthly reporting for Direct Cost Centres (Procurement, Engineering and Project Management)
  • Liaise with Finance teams in Japan and Italy to manage the process of changing scope of works from financial perspective
  • Indirect Management of Project Financial Analyst

Essential

  • Qualified / part qualified
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience of working in matrix environment with multiple reporting lines
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and be able to work as part of a cross-cultural team
  • Flexibility for occasional travel to HRE locations around the UK.

Desirable

  • Experience of finance for long term projects
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing organisation producing heavy plant or machinery (e.g. Aerospace, Railway).
